Sabir Khan, an ardent Sarangi player mezmerised the entire audience with his soulful performance at the Mitra Mahatsov held by Mitra Foundation, Pune. The two-day long festival was a true delight for the music aficionada. It festival held on 23rd and 24th November, 2019, at Pandit Farms, Karve Nagar on 5.30 pm onwards.

Mitra Mahatsov is a platform established for promoting and propagating the rich musical heritage of India. Apart from Sabir khan, son and disciple of legendry maestro Ustad Sultan Khan, the festival was embraced by many other music aficionada. The audience was soaked in a musical fiesta by the performances of great musicians including Sarangi player Sabir Khan, National award winner vocalist Mahesh Kale, vocalist Anand Bhate, Violionist N. Rajam, Sarod Maestro, Ayaan Ali Bangashwill and many others.


Sabir Khan who was one of the eye catcher of Mitra Mahatov belongs to Sikar gharana (school) of music from where Indian classical music got several stalwarts. His grandfather Ustad Gulab Khan exposed Sabir Khan to the world of music at an early age of 6 years. Apart from giving solo performances Sabir Khan has also shared the stage with his father. Khan has mastery in playing sarangi in a rare combination of sur and laya (note and rhythm).

Sabir Khan has played sarangi in several feature films like Chameli, Rog, Dor, Anwar, Sanwariya, Chodon na yaar, Jodha Akbar and more recently Faisal Saif's Amma which is a multilingual film. He has also been a part of A.R. Rehman and Shreya Ghosal's episode for MTV Unplugged.
